I'M GONNA TELL MY KIDS THIS IS D&D is an experiment, much like Everything is Tables or RP6, into dice mechanics. I wanted to come up with a system where every single one of the dice mattered every time you did something - or as near as damnit - because otherwise that poor D12 never got used. (Barbarians notwithstanding.)

I reckon it'll work real nice. In fact, I reckon it'll play fuckin D&D. PLUS I put in a one in a hundred chance of something being your LUCKY BIRTHDAY ROLL, so if that isn't worth the price of admission, I don't know what is.

Great little idea. I'm just not clear on the XP rules.
"You start at level 1. Whenever the D8 result is the same as your level, gain XP. When you earn XP equal to your level, gain a level, add 1 to one stat of your choosing and remove all earned XP."
So if I'm level 1, the only way to ever level up is to roll a 1? And a 2 at level 2 and so on? I don't get where the actual accumulated XP from other rolls ever comes into play. Do I always gain 1 XP when I roll equal to my level and try to build up to my level?

(+1)

I think you mark xp whenever you roll the right number, and then gain a level once you've gained enough xp. So when you're level 1 and roll a 1, you get an XP and then level up to level 2 (since your xp == level). At level 2, you gain an xp the first time you roll a 2, and then gain an xp and level up the second time you roll a 2.

I spend a lot of time hacking D20 systems and writing D20 content, and there are some neat ideas in this little game. Well done!

The font and layout are a great touch.

Beautiful. And a great reason to get more dice.
